Mentoring
MARTIN TAYLOR is now accepting a limited number of guitar students.
These informal one-to-one mentoring sessions are designed to guide, inspire and help serious guitar students achieve their full potential. Students must be experienced guitarists of intermediate to advanced ability.
"I am extremely grateful to my own guitar mentor Ike Isaacs. He helped me in my formative years with his invaluable advice. I feel now is the time for me to pass on some of my knowledge and experience from 35 years as a professional jazz guitarist" Dr Martin Taylor MBE
Martin's approach is very relaxed and informal. He will discuss with you your aims and goals, and help you identify and develop your strengths as a musician. These are not conventional guitar lessons where the teacher gives the student excercises and pieces to learn, but is an opportunity for guitar students to discuss their playing and musical development, and receive advice and guidance from one of the world's great jazz guitar masters.
Martin will help you on many aspects of guitar playing and musicianship including:
- •Arranging and developing solos
- •Bass, chord and melody playing
- Single line playing
- •Gypsy Jazz
- •Improvisation
- •Accompanying
- •Sound and Tone
- •Jazz Repertoire
- •Career Advice
Mentoring sessions are held at a studio in Glasgow, Scotland (15 minutes from the Airport). Hotel and B&B accomodation available locally. For further information or to make an appointment contact mentoring@martintaylor.com
